Well after 3 years relying on public transport in order to save money, I've decided to get a car. As I don't have a studio, I have to go to people's places to teach piano. One afternoon the other week, it took me 4 hours including travel to do 1.5 hours worth of teaching.
And my sense of direction is absolutely hopeless. No joke, I was once walking with a group along a creek and we were heading away from the place where we had lunch and we had to make our way back. I didn't realise we'd turned back, I thought we were still heading away, and all of a sudden we were back at our lunch spot.
So a GPS will be helpful to me while I learn Melbourne's roads. My family members have a few GPS navigators between them, and they seem to be mostly good, but often give bad directions and get them driving around in circles. So if anyone has any advice - what brands are good or bad, things to avoid, or features to look for, that would be great.
